Dame Emily Thornberry MP, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee of the House of Commons, joined Labour members at the Pride Hub in Egham to host their fundraiser quiz for the 2026 West Surrey local elections.
Dame Emily spoke about her upbringing and introduction into politics as a resident of Guildford, reminding members that there is nowhere in Britain where it is impossible for Labour community champions to win, pointing to the recent Runnymede Labour budget as an example.
Members were pleased to be hosted in the Pride Hub venue, which was previously located in Woking, but moved to Egham after Runnymede Borough Council was able to find them a venue on Egham High Street, where it supports the vibrant and young communities surrounding Royal Holloway and Strodes College. The Pride Hub also received funding from Labour Cllr Robert King to support their community space.
